China Waiting Child Adoption
Villa Hope is approved by the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to place waiting children. Please contact our office or email Michelle Bond, our China Coordinator, mbond@villahope.org for more information about this program.
Villa Hope has been approved by the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to find families for children with special needs. The children in this program have been identified as having one or more special need. The special needs range from minor to major medical issues. The children range in age from 9 months to 13 years old.
You may adopt a waiting child even if your dossier has been submitted to CCAA. You will need a home study addendum approving you for a child with special needs. Villa Hope will have 3 months to place the waiting children with qualified families.
When a family commits to adopt a waiting child, the first step is to submit an application with the $300 (non-refundable) fee to Villa Hope. Once we have approved your application we will contact you to discuss the paperwork needed to complete your dossier. Once your dossier is submitted you will be eligible to be matched with a child. Once you are matched with a child we will assist you with completing the Letter of Intent. The Letter of Intent will explain your plans for the medical care of the child’s special need. Then we will complete a Family Summary Form to inform the CCAA of your ages, income, health, etc. A family will receive their pre-approval from CCAA in about 6 weeks. Once your dossier is submitted, the travel approval will arrive anywhere from 2-4 months later. The family will travel to China about 6 weeks after the travel approval arrives.
